Founded in 1826 by James Gordon and Peter Weir. Rebuilt in 1879 after a devastating fire, this is the date which appears on the label. Re-equipped with four new stills in 1973.

Color - Amber. Nose - Malty, spicy, mint toffee. Body - Remarkably soft and smooth. Medium to full. Palate - Distinctively clinging mouth-feel, with long-lasting flavor development. Both sweetness and spicy, peppery dryness in its malt character. Nutmeg and berry fruit. Finish - Lingering, smooth, aromatic, clean.

Color - Deep amber with old gold highlights. Nose - Medium-sweet, fresh and clean with a slight green fruity note and a delicate peatiness. Flavor - Medium-sweet, medium-bodied, round and smooth with a very gentle peatiness. Finish - Long, very delicately peated, elegant and complex.

Color - Amber. Nose - Malty and toffeeish developing flowering currant. Body - Medium to full. Silky smooth. Palate - Toffee, licorice, anise, crème brûlée. Finish -Late spiciness and ginger. Long, soothing.

Color - Mid-amber with bronze highlights. Nose - Quite full-bodied, sweet, really rich, quite soft and honeyed with aromas of hazelnuts, ripe lemons and tangerines. Palate - Smooth, round, medium-sweet, creamy and delicately peated with notes of citrus, vanilla and chocolate. Finish - Very long, quite soft and elegant with a little belt of clean peat on the tail.

Color - Fuller reddish amber. Nose - Roses, cotton cand (candyfloss), slightly buttery. Body - Very firm. Smooth. Palate - Rounded, tightly combined flavors. Beautiful balance of sherryish nuttiness, anise, and emphatic orange-flower. Finish - Cookie, licorice toffee. Rootiness, spiciness, emphatic mint, late dryness.
