CHIVAS REGAL

The name Chivas is neither Spanish nor French. It is derived from 'Schivas' an ancient Scottish surname taken from a small village, Schivas, on the banks of the River Ythan in Aberdeenshire, in the North East of Scotland. The word Schivas itself is derived from the Scottish Gaelic phrase 'seimh as' - pronounced 'shee vas' - meaning "the narrow place", as Schivas is located on a narrow, fordable stretch of the river.

Strathisla
THE HOME OF CHIVAS

In 1950, CHIVAS BROTHERS began the search for a secure supply of exceptional malt whisky. Strathisla Distillery in Keith, the oldest and most beautiful distillery in the Highlands, was the obvious choice.

From that day to this, the world-famous Strathisla Single Malt Scotch whisky became the foundation of CHIVAS REGAL. Today, visitors can tour the recently refurbished Distillery. Guests take a unique, self-guided route through Strathisla where they can test the knowledge of the distillery staff about the skills and traditions of whisky making. Meticulous restoration has returned the old distillery to its original character, and within the courtyard buildings, Scotland's leading architects and craftsmen have created elegant meeting rooms, like the Reception and Dram Rooms, where guests can nose a selection of single malts, then enjoy a dram of CHIVAS REGAL or even Strathisla itself.
