Following
another excellent year in 1996, The Scotch Whisky
Association are pleased to announce the latest trade
statistics:
- Last year, Scotch Whisky
sales created annual export earnings of almost
£2.3 billion.
- Shipments to over 200
countries were worth £2,278 million - a new
record for Scotch exports.
- European Union shipments
(excluding United Kingdom) accounted for 40 per
cent of all exports.
- Sales to European Union
nations (excluding United Kingdom) were worth
£827 million.

unmatched by any other industry. |
